Work the Way You’re Wired
About this Event
We don’t always land in careers or workplaces built for how we’re wired, so we figure it out ... alone. We spend years performing a version of confident that is exhausting and stressful. This in-person workshop is designed for introverts who want to understand their own wiring, talk about their value without sounding salesy, and identify a workstyle that fits and a plan to protect it. You’ll leave with tools you can use right away. Introverts, ambiverts, and extroverts are all welcome. Lunch is included. Seating is limited to 20 to allow time and space for a thoughtful, no-pressure experience that stays with you.
Facilitated by Brendalyn Carpenter Player, APR, author of The Unapologetic Introvert: It's Time to Unlock Your Quiet Power and Thrive and a retired Army Public Affairs Officer who spent two decades leading from the quiet end of the spectrum in some of the highest-visibility rooms in federal service. Guest facilitator Sonya Laster, Ed.D., Founder and CEO of Living Out Loud, will lead two guided reflections.
About the Facilitator
Brendalyn Carpenter Player, APR, is an Unapologetic Introvert who helps professionals trade the overstimulating, exhausting performance-driven workdays for a workstyle that fits how they're wired. She works mainly with mid-career professionals: people who've been at this long enough to know something isn't working, and have enough career left that they want what comes next to be enjoyed, not endured. For some, that looks like a shift in duties. For others, a new role or a different path altogether.
She also works with managers and leaders who want to better understand the employees they've already invested time and money in, and help them find the roles where their talent actually fits. Get that fit right, and everyone wins: the organization keeps sharper, more engaged people, and those people get work worth staying for.
With over 20 years of strategic communication experience as a U.S. Army civilian Public Affairs Officer, Brendalyn led media coverage and crisis communication in some of the highest-visibility rooms in federal service, culminating in her role as Director of Public Affairs at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, one of the largest Army installations, serving 200,000 soldiers, retirees, family members, and civilians. She is Accredited in Public Relations (APR), the profession's recognized mark of proven, strategic communication expertise, awarded by the Public Relations Society of America.
Living with cerebral palsy since childhood, Brendalyn spent years treating her own quiet nature as something to manage and outwork. Her own shift toward self-acceptance became the foundation for Unapologetic Introvert, where she now helps professionals across the personality spectrum understand their wiring, name their value, and build a workstyle that works with them instead of against them.
