Discover how Worcester Community Garden (WCG) has transformed a flood-prone riverside site into a thriving community space. Along the way, they have learned to live with the River Severn rather than fight against it.
Steve Dent, Chair of Trustees, will explore the challenges of flooding, the innovative measures that WCG has put in place to improve resilience, and the lessons they have learned along the way. He will look at how designing for floods and having volunteers ready to support has helped create a garden that can recover quickly and that continues to grow and flourish despite such challenging circumstances.
After the talk, guests are invited to visit the Worcester Community Garden to see the new wildlife area. Anyone wishing to attend, will need to make their own way there - it's a 15-20 minute walk from The Hive, alongside Pitchcroft. Please be aware that the site is not easily accessible for anyone with mobility issues.
The garden is open until 2:00pm and people are invited to drop in at any point before we close.
