Woonasquatucket Resilience and Access Walk
About this Event
Providence Resilience and Access in the Woonasquatucket River Walk
Join the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC), Rhode Island Sea Grant, and the Coastal Resources Management Council for a guided walk along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway to explore this Urban Coastal Greenway and how nature-based solutions are helping build resilience.
Along the way, WRWC staff will share how trees, green infrastructure, and restored habitat work together to reduce flooding, improve water quality, support birds and other wildlife, and create healthier, more connected neighborhoods. You'll also hear the story of the Greenway's transformation from a neglected urban river into a thriving public space that provides safe places to walk, bike, gather, paddle, and experience nature.
This walk will kick off outside the WRWC office at 45 Eagle Street, Providence.
This event is spondered by the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Rhode Island Sea Grant, and the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council.
