PROJECT 37 PRESENTS a show at Witchdoctor Guitar in Milaca on November 23rd! We’re excited to be back at this venue. This is a suggested donation-based show! We are currently raising money to fund our purchase of a venue in downtown St. Cloud. All donations from this show will go directly towards that goal.Let’s meet the artists!
WOOLYBEAR // organ rock
WOOLYBEAR is an original organ rock band from the Milaca area made up of Joe on organ and vocals, Jacob on lead guitar, Zac on bass, and Steve on drums.
A SUNKEN SHIP IRONY // indie folk
A Sunken Ship Irony began as a solo project by Josh Wirtanen in 2004 and has spent the past 20 years expanding and exploring with Josh’s closest friends. The band plays punk-inspired indie folk and often decorates their songs with synthesizers. They weave tales of sadness and the sea (and many, many ghosts). Their song “Island of Misfit Toys” was featured in the 2009 film Friends with Benefits, and they’ve been featured in countless other places as well.
SIMON ECKMAN // freak-folk fingerstyle guitar
I play what could be called “freak-folk” music with an intense focus on lyricism and deliver each song building on a foundation of finger-style guitar. I write eclectic songs that are inspired by mysticism, nature, the occult, the unknown, mythology, science fiction, and my own experiences in the outdoors. I am from Sebeka, Minnesota and I’ve been writing songs (sometimes successfully) since I was about 16 years old and have been building my skills as a guitarist, lyricist, and singer since then. I have an album, called “Knell,” which is being released on Halloween.
Project 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows, following us on social medias, or telling people about what we do.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central MN Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
