Intro to Woodworking - Making a Cutting Board.
Class Dates: Tuesdays - Sept 17, Sept 24, Oct 1, Oct 8
Learn the basics of woodworking AND create your very own cutting board! No prior experience required, just bring your enthusiasm and creativity. Students will receive a thorough demonstration on shop safety and proper use of each machine including how to properly "square-up" a piece of wood using the "order of operation". The instructor will then discuss wood species and the students will be able to pick out their own wood. Sufficient demos and in depth answers to questions are provided. You are encouraged to ask questions, take design risks and have fun! Examples are provided and students are encouraged to use their creativity. Each students will create a beautiful cutting board, start to finish, during this course.

- Machine safety
- Table Saw
- Band Saw
- Jointer
- Planer
- Sanders
- Hand Router
- Four squaring a piece of raw lumber "Order of operations"
- Differences in face grain, end grain, edge grain and the effect on function.
- Proper glue-up techniques.
- Proper finishing- sanding, oiling etc.
***Event will only run with minimum 2 students. If only 1 ticket sells, class will be canceled.
***18 years or older. Must be able to sign own waiver.
