Enjoy a scenic fall foliage railway tour with a relaxed, laid-back excursion through the heart of Virginia. This experience departs from the Virginia Scenic Railway’s newly renovated train depot in downtown Louisa and travels west toward the outskirts of Charlottesville before returning to Louisa.
Climb aboard for an opportunity to slow down and unplug. This unhurried experience offers a comfortable atmosphere—perfect for stepping away from the busy day-to-day routine, enjoying time with friends, and savoring a delicious meal.
While onboard, guests are served dishes from a seasonal menu, thoughtfully prepared and presented in a home-cooked style. The fully renovated train cars create a unique dining experience with attentive service and a welcoming environment. This excursion focuses on the simple pleasures of good food, great service, and meaningful conversation.
Cost: $50 per WoodmenLife member / $75 per nonmember guest. The price includes one meal per person and a special gift.

This one-day trip from Staunton, Virginia, is for WoodmenLife members ages 55 and older. Nonmember guests are welcome but must also be age 55 or older. Membership will be confirmed, and WoodmenLife reserves the right to decline registration, with a full refund, if the registrant is not a member at the time of registration.
This is a one-day event and does not include bus or other transportation to Louisa. It also does not include a hotel stay. See additional details below.
The event is offered on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026. Registrants may select one of the following two excursion times, based on availability. Each excursion is approximately three hours in length.
• 10:30 a.m. departure (includes lunch)
• 4:00 p.m. departure (includes dinner)
Only one excursion per registrant is allowed so that as many members as possible may participate. Seating is limited. Duplicate registrations will be refunded.
Nonmember guest pricing (limit one guest per member) is $75. Guests must be age 55 or older.
Menu and seating information:
Guests will be seated at dining tables aboard the train with assigned seating. Tables accommodate two or four people. Seating is arranged primarily for groups of two. Requests to seat groups of four together cannot be guaranteed and will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis, based on registration date and time.
All registrants will receive a link to submit their meal selections. When completing the meal selection form, please include any special dietary concerns in the comments section. Due to the limited food service facilities on the train, Virginia Scenic Railway cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contamination, including allergens such as nuts or gluten.
