Celebrate National Poetry Day with a hands-on letterpress workshop using our beautiful Stephenson Blake proofing press and wood type collection.
Bring along a few chosen words and join letterpress artist and printer David Armes for a hands-on introduction to printing with wooden type. You’ll spend a fun and creative day inking up, experimenting with layout and colour, and producing a bold set of unique A3 poem-prints to take home, plus, hopefully, some fresh enthusiasm for your next steps. No experience needed, just a love of words and a willingness to get your fingers inky!
One of two workshops this weekend marking National Poetry Day (2nd October).
Please note: This workshop involves the use of magnets to secure type in place. Magnets may interfere with implantable cardiac devices (such as pacemakers or defibrillators), so please consult your physician if you have any concerns.
nb. Our letterpress sessions take place at our Huddersfield site located on the Piazza in the town centre.
Experience level
No previous experience is needed for this course. Beginners are welcome, along with those who need a refresher or are looking to push their printmaking practice further.
