About this Event
The goal of this class is to provide hands on training and experience with woodshop machinery and tools to support women wanting beginner-level instruction in woodworking. The class focuses on women to build confidence and have fun creating woodworking projects.
Class enrollment is exactly 3 women and is open to Make Nashville members only. Woodshop orientation must be completed prior to taking the class.
There are three sessions in total. Two sessions teach and guide proper usage and safety of the primary machinery, power tools and hand tools used to create in the woodshop. The third session is an apprentice-style opportunity to begin the student’s first project (chosen by the student.) It provides guidance, support and encouragement to design (or review a purchased plan) and layout, list of materials needed, material sourcing, and the project’s fabrication. The student is responsible for purchase of materials for their project.
The first session will be on Monday, May 11th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The second session will be on Thursday, May 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
The final session will be decided between student and instructor.
The cost for the three sessions is $150.00 and to support others in as you grow in experience. Proceeds from the class will be donated to Make Nashville.
