Join Bridie for a full day of exploring the wonderful ways with weaving. This relaxed, hands-on workshop is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of frame weaving giving you plenty of opportunity to try different materials and techniques.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to set up a weaving frame, create your warp and explore a variety of weaving techniques and different types of weaves. You’ll experiment with different yarns, fibres and materials, looking at how texture, colour and materials can be combined to create unique pieces.
Bridie will guide you through the process from start to finish, including how to finish your ends neatly and safely remove your weaving from the frame.
No previous weaving experience is needed — just come along, get creative and enjoy a full day of making! All materials are included.
Requirements: All materials, including a loom, are included. You may need a pair of scissors, pen and notepad. Detailed requirements will be emailed to you in advance of the class.
There is a coffee shop on site called O for Coffee. Attendees at our classes are visited by coffee shop staff regularly throughout the day to take any orders. Anything consumed during your day is sold at a 10% discount. As well as a large choice of hot and cold drinks, the menu comprises savoury choices including sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups. For those with a sweet tooth, there is a selection of cakes and scones made in-house with gluten-free and vegan options.
The venue has parking. Upon arrival, park in the car park at the front of the shop. Unload your vehicle into your classroom. Staff will then advise you where to park your car for the day at the rear of the complex.
There is disabled parking and ramps allowing access to all areas. There is a disabled toilet.
Staff will help anyone in need of assistance. Shop on site selling an enormous range of goods relating to crafting: dressmaking, patchwork & quilting, knitting & crochet, sewing machines and furniture.
