Ladies, is your ability to navigate limited to using the GPS on your smart phone? Are you only able to figure out the distance that you’ve walked by looking at your Fitbit? Does lighting a campfire normally involve large amounts of gasoline? If so, come join Sandcut Outdoors for a weekend of outdoor immersion (full of fun and fresh air) at the peak of autumn’s colors. Forget about parties selling brightly colored clothing and bags and forget about eating bugs in survival courses, this hands-on workshop will teach you those skills necessary to know how to make your time outdoors more enjoyable and productive. No prior experience is required. All that is needed is a sense of adventure. Women wanting to improve their knowledge and comfort in the outdoors are encouraged to attend this event.
This two-day workshop will be held at The Nature Conservancy’s Hauser Nature Center, located at 1567 Long Pond Rd., Long Pond, PA and will run from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, 2025. The fee for the workshop is $100/person for one day or $180/person for two days.
Saturday's activities will include learning to navigate using map, compass, and terrain association, learning how and when to use the most useful outdoor knots, as well as understanding and mastering basic fire making skills. Sunday's activities will cover fundamental outdoor knife skills, the psychology and physiology of surviving an unexpected overnight stay in the woods, as well as the life-saving skills of severe bleeding control and injury assessment.
Students must be at least 13 years old and must be able to hike one to two miles on rough, uneven terrain. Each minor student must be accompanied by an adult. The workshop will be filled on a first come, first served basis, and class size is limited to 20 students each day. Registration is required and the class is expected to fill rapidly.
