🌿 Womens Wellness Walk – 5miles 🌿This is a shorter, flat walk so great if this is your first event!
Overview:
Join us for a scenic March walk starting from the charming village of Upchurch, rich in history and nestled along the River Medway. We’ll explore the Saxon Shore Way and Lower Halstow along the trail.
Route Details:
We start our walk in the village of Upchurch a small, picturesque village in Kent, located between Rainham and Sittingbourne. It has a rich history that dates back to Roman times. The village is known for its archaeological finds, especially Roman pottery. In fact, Upchurch was part of the “Upchurch Marshes,” where significant Roman pottery kilns were discovered, showcasing its importance as a production site during Roman Britain.
We will take The Saxon Shore Way ( a route completed by the group in 2023) along the coastline and explore the marshlands and tidal inlets along the way. The Saxon Shore Way is a long-distance footpath that follows the historic coastline of southeast England. Stretching over 160 miles, it runs from Gravesend in Kent to Hastings in East Sussex. The route is named after the Saxon Shore forts, which were a series of defensive positions built by the Romans during the late third century to defend the coast from Saxon invaders. Our section of historic coastal route will be where the Medway estuary meets the land, providing rich wildlife and stunning views.
As we make our way inland at Lower Halstow, you’ll get a glimpse of this quaint village with its historic St. Margaret’s Church, which dates back to the Norman era.
Please bring a small picnic lunch or snack for our rest stop.

Walk Leader: For those who don’t know my story, I experienced a medical menopause in my 20s, which came with a long list of symptoms. This journey led me to train in menopause and nutrition, and I’ve since been invited to participate in both medical and retail panels to discuss the physical and mental impacts of menopause. Our walks provide a safe space to share openly if you wish, or simply to enjoy being in nature together
