Women's Safety Summit + Run/Walk | Tortoise & Hare Sports

Come walk with us. Leave a little safer.
We hear it all the time at the shop. Someone only runs with her phone in her hand. Someone else stopped going out at dawn after a scary moment in a parking lot. So on Saturday, November 7, we're opening early for our first Women's Safety Summit.
We'll start with a 1-mile walk or a 2-mile run, then come back for coffee and small bites. After that, you'll hear from people who handle safety for a living. It's free. Bring a friend.
How the morning goes
7:00 AM: Doors open. Grab a coffee and find your people.
7:30 AM: We head out for a 1-mile walk or a 2-mile run.
8:15 AM: Back at the shop to meet our vendors and grab a bite.
8:30 AM: The talks begin.
After: Stay, shop the Head Start Sale and hang out.
Who's speaking
Kick Off
Officer Alex Sachs, Scottsdale Police Department, covers real cases from around the Valley and the small habits that make you a harder target.
Cory Krebs, GM of United Defense Tactical, explains how to notice when something's off, at the trailhead, in a parking lot or anywhere else.
Professor Erika, Gracie Barra Peoria Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, leads a short, hands-on lesson in simple self-defense. No experience needed.
Good to know
Wear something you can move in, and bring water.
Not a runner? Do the walk, or just come at 8:15 for the talks.
Strollers are welcome. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian with them.
If plans change, cancel a day or two ahead so someone else can have your spot.
