Explore a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Blue Mountains: a lesser-known day hike promising a beautiful canyon & diverse landscapes.Details
* Meeting location: 239 Cliff Drive (Devil’s Hole Trail Head). Click here to view location.
* Meeting time: 8:30 a.m.
* Finish time: Approximately 2:30-3:30 p.m., depending on weather, track conditions, and group pace.
* Grade: Moderate to challenging in sections (due to uneven surfaces and slippery conditions).
* Terrain: Rock, uneven, steep in sections, steps mixed with fire trail.
* Elevation gain: Approximately 510m.
* Distance: 11.5km, loop.
As you embark on this trail, it feels like stepping into a lost world. The surroundings transform into a wild expanse where the path winds through fallen boulders, dense ferns, and towering cliff walls. A boulder wedged between the canyon walls adds to this atmospheric setting.
Meeting with your WWA guide, you'll begin the walk anticlockwise, descending through Nellie’s Glen. While the descent involves navigating plenty of stairs, the experience is thoroughly enjoyable. The trail then leads along a section of the Six Foot Track before ascending through the Devil’s Hole – a route that promises a steeper, and sometimes slippery path (yet incredible section!).
Throughout the hike, take in breathtaking views from the top of the valley at both ends of the walk. As you traverse through Nellie’s Glen, soak in the serenity of the picturesque creek environment, adding to the charm of this trail.
Please note: Conditions along the trail can vary, from muddy and rocky terrain to sections that require scrambling and may be slippery.
