Women's DIY Empowerment: Basic DIY Skills

Are you a little daunted by DIY? Would you like to boost your confidence and learn how to do simple DIY tasks yourself? This workshop is designed to empower the female DIY beginner. In a relaxed and informal atmosphere, and in a small group of three like-minded women you will learn basic drill skills, including many skills you can transfer to other tasks. You will learn:

- how to drill into masonery vs hollow walls

- how to drill into tiled walls without breaking the tile

- how to understand your combi drill and its different functions

- basic knowledge about drill bits and how to choose the correct one

- which type of rawl plugs and screws to use for different wall types

- different types of screw heads and how to prevent screws from stripping

- how to avoid drilling into electric cables and pipes

The workshop will last about 2 hours and take place in Whalley Range.

Each participant will get a chance to practice her drill skills with a hammer drill during this workshop, and there will be time for any DIY questions you may have.
