About this Event
Our welcoming Women's Writing Group at Mata provides a space where you can express yourself as you explore a creative writing practice that engages with the world of literature, from poetry, fiction, and non-fiction in its many genres.
- Develop your skills: setting character development, story structure, dialogue, and more.
- Receive regular feedback and guidance from your tutor to enhance your writing skills.
- Engage in an expressive environment where you can share, listen, and learn from each other.
Whether you're new to writing or have a deeper understanding of the practice, this class caters to all skill levels. Join us to explore the world of literature, writing prompts, and publishing processes, and boost your confidence in becoming a writer. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of our women's anthology project as a separate activity from the course. - Dates include: Wednesday 7th January 2026 - Half term 18th February 2026 - Course end date 25th March 2026.
- This class has 10 attendees.
What you'll get
- 10 weekly sessions 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm
- Week 9 is a one-to-one with the tutor
- In the final week, we hold a celebration of the term's work in a topic-driven immersive environment experience where attendees share their final pieces and bring and share treats for the group. This is a great way to encourage positive connections and well-being.
Knowledge Required: A good grasp of the English language is required for these classes. Still, a limited grasp of grammar, punctuation, and spelling should not deter attendees from booking, as these are supported criteria throughout the course. What to bring- A notebook and a pen. This is a laptop-free environment. Tea and coffee are available. Session repeats.
This class series runs for 10 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
Your Tutor: Seren Iceni has taught at Mata for four years and is a BA (Hons) author, editor, and script consultant. Her personal creative writing focuses on trauma narratives expressed through poetry, feminist & queer writing, historical fiction, and creative nonfiction. Seren
Trained in embodiment facilitation, particularly working with women, trans women, and non-binary people, they understand the key components of developing and encouraging others to build a solid foundation in their writing practice, bringing their stories to life, whilst supporting authors in navigating the emotional elements of commitment to the craft.
