The Womens' Healing Circle has an Annual Solstice Gathering!!!(new attendees are warmly welcomed) :D
We have been gathering to honor the Season of Giving for over 15 years now!! Wah Wah!! (Cree for WOW!! lol)
We gather to Share our Blessings with one another. We gather to receive Blessings from one another. <3
Yes, we have heard the old and new adages... we should all be giving all year... "Christmas" is too commercialized... it's not about the giving... even though Giving boosts our seratonin & oxytocin levels, providing sensations of happiness and peace!!! Much like HUGS!! <3
However, what we have created IS different, and it is not about commercialization. It is about sharing your Blessings with others. It is an adaptation of a VERY old Tradition, here on the Pacific West Coast. The Give-Away.
Traditionally a Family that is celebrating a big win, Marriage, Graduation, Child... or a big loss, Death of a Loved One, Struggles with Health... would Host a Traditional Ceremony, a Give Away.
There would be a HUGE Feast, and in some situations... ALL... and I mean... ALL of the Family's possessions would be gathered up and given away to their Community. Yes... ALL of them. Take a moment and imagine this... giving away EVERYTHING YOU OWN.
Wah Wah!! Yeah, intense.
In other situations, only the Treasures would be Given Away, the most precious items the Family owned. Whoa... yah.
Then comes the second part- As that Family finally leaves the Longhouse, and heads home, they may find bedding on their porch. Or a pot of Soup with a note- Keep the Pot. As time goes by the Community brings what they have to offer to the Family. And EVERYTHING that this Family needs... is provided.
Along with a few treasured Gifts as well.
THIS was, and STILL IS happening, and it is considered an indicator of True Wealth. The generosity of heart to Give Away. And the trust in community to Provide. <3
Whew, big feels there. And definitely not something our colonized culture would support us in doing!!
Well, we are here. We encourage you to find, or feel the most precious Gift you are able to give. Yup, something that means very much to you... and would benefit someone else.
Not the first stone your grandchild gifted you- but maybe the first ring you were ever given by a lover, or in my case...2 years ago, I gave the first diamond ring I have ever won. ;) Definite value.
Some cannot Give Away heirlooms... (some have in years past)
So they spend hard earned money on Gifts of clear value. OR they spend HOURS on creating a handmade Gift of clear Beauty. Or they find an obvious Treasure in an Antique shop or Art Gallery. WE support this process of finding the PERFECT Gift.
We ask you to do this for this Solstice Circle.
We placed the wrapped Gifts (plain wrapping please, brown paper or newspaper) in the center of the room & place a Blanket over top of them. And together we sing, and dance, and give thanks for ALL of our Blessings. No one knows which Gift they will receive, and all of us... Trust it will be PERFECT.
It always is. The perfect Beauty, the perfect Medicine for our Hearts, always lands exactly where it is needed. It is so exciting, and quite amazing to be a Sacred Witness to. <3
Honorarium~
The Honorarium for this Circle is the same as the others through the year... $70-$90 suggested sliding scale. Offer what you are able to, give what you can. The door is not closed.

A dish for the potluck FEAST afterwards!!! Bring a dish YOU love, with enough to share!! <3 There will be a LOT of food, no worries, with plenty of options. The Feast is always awesome. :D
