Women on the Canal Tour at the Waterway of Change Exhibit
Life during the second half of the nineteenth century was complex and full of challenges. Women along the Erie Canal faced their own set of obstacles. However, the canal was a conduit for social reforms, as well as commerce, and women were often on the frontlines fighting injustice. Immerse yourself in the culture of the late 1800s and discover issues that women had to face.
Please note that these tours will begin inside the Waterways of Change exhibit at the Longshed building (44 Prime St.) and continue outside the exhibit. There is walking involved in different types of terrain. Please contact Megan DeJoe at [email protected] for questions.
