Thursday, March 5th at 6pm - Women of the American Revolution

Dr. Lorri Glover, author of the definitive biography on Eliza Lucas Pinckney, will discuss Eliza’s economic and political contributions to the Revolution. Jean Hutchinson, historical fashion expert, will give a first-person presentation on “What to Wear to a Revolution”.

BONUS: Arrive early at 5:30 PM for a special Colonial Cocktails demonstration by Charleston Culinary Tours.

Thursday, March 19 - Women of the Civil War

Presenters Jo Ann Carr, Mary Hatcher, and Jean Hutchinson. Topics include groundbreaking research into the women of the Fort Sumter garrison (1860-61) and a first person presentation on Civil War era fashion.

BONUS: Arrive early at 5:30 PM for a special Colonial Cocktails demonstration by Charleston Culinary Tours.

Thursday, March 26 - Reconstruction & the Civil Rights Era

Professor Mollie Barnes will speak on Laura M. Towne, a pioneering educator of African Americans on St. Helena Island both during and after the Civil War. The final presentation will spotlight Charleston native and civil rights educator Septima Clark, presented by USC History Professor Emerita Valinda Littlefield.
