About this Event

Welcome to the Women+ networking event, hosted by Indianapolis Press Club Foundation!

Date: August 26

Time: 6-8pm

Location: SipEasy SocialHaus, 901 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis

The goal of this recurring event is to create a networking, skill building and socializing community designed to lift up women and non-binary journalists in Indianapolis. We celebrate successes and help each other through times of struggle. It is open to any woman, female identifying or non-binary person working in journalism.

This time we're focused on marketing ourselves and fighting imposter syndrome with a great panel to answer questions, offer tips and advice and share their experiences.

We've put together a panel including:

  • Oseye Boyd, editor in chief of Mirror Indy
  • Kara Kenney, investigative reporter for WRTV
  • Colleen Steffen, executive editor of The Statehouse File

Agenda:

6-6:30pm — Arrive, grab drinks

6:30-7:30pm — Panel discussion

7:30-8pm — Open networking time

*Please feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. You do not have to arrive by any certain time, and you do not have to stay the entire time.

FAQS:

How often does IPCF host these events?

Quarterly.

Are they in the same location every time?

No. We like moving around the city. If you know of a place willing to work with nonprofits to host events, let us know!

Can journalism students come?

Yes, if they are 21+ (because of the location)

Can editors/managers come?

Yes!

Can people who don't work in journalism come?

These gatherings are designed specifically for women+ in journalism to connect, learn, and grow together. To maintain the event’s focus, we kindly ask that those in non-journalism roles refrain from registering. Instead, we encourage you to build relationships with local journalists in other ways like emails and coffee meetups.

Is the topic/theme the same every time?

No — we switch it up every time. If you have suggestions for something you'd like to see covered, let us know!

Can I give feedback and share ideas?

Absolutely! We share a feedback form after each event so you can tell us your thoughts and what you want to see in future events. Don’t want to wait? Email us at [email protected].
