About this Event
Illuminoor presents Women in Islamic Societies. This will be an engaging and reflective program exploring the spiritual, intellectual, and social roles of women through an Islamic lens. The evening will begin with a talk by Dr. Zara Khan, who will examine gender in the Qur’an and Sunnah, grounding contemporary conversations in sacred sources and prophetic guidance.
In the second part of the program, we will journey through Islamic history. Dr. Khan will delve into an exporation of past and present Muslim women around the world showcasing the strength, spritiual knowledge, and political mastery of Muslim women across circumstances and against opression. These historical examples will serve as mirrors and models, helping us reflect on how their legacies can inform and inspire our own lives. We will also examine some pressing issues facing Muslim Women today.
This event invites participants to deepen their understanding, reconnect with tradition, and engage in meaningful reflection on what it means to live with purpose and faith as Muslim women today.
The program will allow ample time for Q&A, refreshments, and suhba inshaAllah.
