The spot along the Mississippi that grew up to become LeClaire, Iowa was originally gifted to a woman – Marguerite LePage LeClaire. Throughout its history, LeClaire Iowa has been home to many outstanding, visionary women. Did you know…LeClaire welcomed the first practicing female doctor west of the Mississippi River.
A young woman born in LeClaire in 1886 started her working life as a receptionist –then became the President and CEO of Builder’s Lime & Cement.
The Buffalo Bill Museum was founded in 1957 by the LeClaire Women’s Club.
On Sunday, January 26, long time LeClaire resident and local historian, Janet Willman, will be sharing the fascinating stories of LeClaire’s “Women in History”. At this afternoon “Tea”, Janet will present a cast of characters telling (or singing) the stories of some of LeClaire’s most remarkable women. Vintage hats are encouraged – (OR -- you may borrow one from our collection!)
Sunday, January 26, 2025: 3:00 – 4:30 $25.00 per person ($20.00 for Museum Members)
Holiday Inn Express, Canal Shore Drive, LeClaire
