About Women in Business

Women in Business or WIB, has been supporting women in business in Medway and North Kent for many years now.

We have a wonderful spectrum of inspiring women from all different backgrounds and businesses, new and established.

We offer support and advice to each other and it is a safe space to explore your business, learn new skills and develop confidence. Also, many long-lasting friendships are made too.

There are opportunities to chair the meeting and to give a presentation, with support if needed, for WIB members. We also have guest presenters on a variety of subjects and offer workshops on subjects that help enhance business or to help us with personal growth.

We meet every first Wednesday at the Education centre attached to the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester.

WIB is very friendly, so why not give us a try?

The group is not just a networking group. It is made up of over 40 ladies that live locally, are like-minded, friendly and business owners who all want to support each other and help encourage you to succeed in your business.

We will hear from Rachel Barham who will be giving a brief overview of who the Federation of Small Businesses is, and how it came about. She will also highlight some of the key benefits that come with FSB membership and discuss how she partners with FSB.

We will also hear from Lynne Parker as she discusses the journey and success of Funny Women, including her recent award wins - Gold for Most Inspiring Businesswoman at the 2024 Best Business Women Awards and the 2024 Athena40 Leader of Social Impact Award - and recognition as a 'one to watch' by Wise100 Women in Social Enterprise 2024. Lynne will also lead a short exercise from her repertoire of Coaching tools.

Our past presenters were:

2nd October: Kat Marriott, from Rubber Duckiee, shared practical insights on what makes an effective website and how to design for impact, drawing from her experience co-running a web and graphic design studio since 2020.

4th September: We talked about summer wins, planning for the last quarter of the year and the Community Christmas Lunch. We also had breakout rooms.

3rd July: Joy Potter, from Medway Property Matters, shared her business journey, detailing her services and the people she helps.

5th June: Helen Fooks, from Vue IT Training, shared top tips and simple rules to help us take control of our inbox and make it more efficient.

1st May: Emma Dengate, from The Friends of Wisdom Hospice, talked about the charity for the hospice and a couple of the nurses joined her to tell us more about the clinical care side of the hospice and their new Namaste project.

3rd April: Abby Barford, from Pet Set Party Animals, shared her inspirational journey of how her business originated from the love of rescuing animals and from the necessity of finding means to fund her rescue efforts. She also talked about the impact of her work on individuals and brought some of her animals with her on the day.

6th March: Katrina, from Razzi Dazzle Ltd, spoke about the good, the bad and the dirty side of setting up a cleaning company, from clearing the cobwebs of HMRC and lifting the dirt of the limited company process. We also heard from Michelle Dowsett, from Discovery PA Solutions, who gave us some top tips to boost our LinkedIn profile and get us noticed.

7th February 2024: Susanne Earl, from Utility Warehouse, talked about her journey from the corporate world to being her own boss.

3rd January 2024: It was an interactive session on goal setting with guidance from Lisa Settle, from Ryland Communications, and the admin team.

1st November 2023: Bev Burke, from Sanitising and Mould Solutions, will talk about how she helps health and wellness by identifying, preventing, and fixing damp and mould issues and sanitising solutions for home and office space.

4th October 2023: Ann Nkwocha, from Ann Amaka Beauty Consultations, did a talk on how to get a "dash out the door" look. And Lisa Settle, from Ryland Communications, talked about the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage she is about to do.
