Women for Women Fall Focus Event

For many women and children in our community, the risk of homelessness is a serious and immediate threat. By highlighting the crucial work of our nonprofit partners Just Economics, Mountain Housing Opportunities, Pisgah Legal Services and Thrive Asheville, this informative event will provide insights into the collaborative efforts that prevent homelessness and advance long-term housing security for women and their families. Guests will get an in-depth look at the factors that lead to housing insecurity, and how collective action and creative community solutions are creating housing opportunities for women and their families.

Join us and gain a deeper understanding of the strategies our partners are employing to keep families in their homes, including:

• Preventing displacement: Proactive measures to stop evictions and foreclosures before they occur.
• Securing housing subsidies: Assisting families in obtaining or preserving their eligibility for housing vouchers and other critical subsidies.
• Combating discrimination: Advocating for families who face discrimination based on disability or other protected characteristics.
• Ongoing advocacy: Providing resources and persistent advocacy to support families on their journey to housing stability.

This event is open to the public.

Info: Join us for a tour of Star Point, a 60-unit development planned on a 1.3-acre site adjacent to the Hilltop Event Center, on Restaurant Court. This community will serve renters earning from below 30% to 60% of the area median income and will feature a mix of efficiency, 1-, and 2-bedroom apartments. 12 units will be set aside to serve young adults aging out of foster care. Star Point was awarded a highly competitive 9% LIHTC award in mid-2023. Under Construction with 2nd Q 2026 targeted completion.

Guests will park at the Hilltop Event Center, then walk over.
