The wellspring of womanist thought delves deeper into Alice Walker’s self-avowed term “womanist” by theoretically and methodologically discussing and employing the four tenets of womanism - Radical Subjectivity, Traditional Communalism, Redemptive Self-Love, and Critical Engagement - this retreat aims to empower participants to thrive in their personal, spiritual, and professional lives despite systemic and ecclesial barriers such as racism, sexism, classism, ageism, etc. These tenets are explored through a four-day immersive experience of preaching, Bible study, engaging workshops, inspirational keynote speakers, break-out sessions, and mentoring sessions that provide opportunities for self-discovery; participants will leave the retreat feeling rejuvenated, connected, and equipped with the tools to thrive.
