⏳ Presentation Info:
• Length: 1 hour
• Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for instructions, we will be starting on time.
Students and parents will sit on covered wood bleachers, facing the main wolf enclosure. The presentation will cover the history of wolves in America, wolf behavior (pack structure, roles, etc.), their importance in the environment, the Yellowstone reintroduction, and the current state of wolves in the U.S. Students will have plenty of time for questions throughout the presentation. Afterward, a walk through path to see the other wolve enclosures and a visit to the gift shop.
🦽The visitor center and the outdoor wolf viewing area are fully accessible.
👪 Younger siblings welcome! It is a 45 minute outdoor presentation, so keep in mind that the kids will need to be able to sit or stand in one spot for that time.
🐺 Wolves are very sensitive to sound, so the staff asks everyone to keep voices at a normal, calm level. Screaming, running along the fence, or mimicking the wolves (like howling or barking) isn't allowed, though we all will get to howl with them at the end. If the little ones get a bit fussy or loud, parents can just step back toward the visitor center area to let them cool down. ☺️
There is nowhere on site to eat, so make sure the kids aren't hungry when we arrive. After, weather permitting, anyone who wants to join can meet at Mass Audubon's Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, just down the street. Bring snacks, outdoor toys and birdseed!
