Step into immersive 360° storytelling with a selection of four virtual reality films from the Institut Français XR Catalogue, presented as part of Night of Ideas Atlanta 2026. These works bring together art, history, music, and animation, inviting audiences to explore new ways of experiencing narrative through sound, image, and interaction.
This program is offered as a drop-in VR screening experience, allowing participants to move through each work at their own pace.
Recommended for ages 10+
(Please note: one film may be more appropriate for ages 15+)

A musical and interactive experience inspired by the work of American painter and writer Henry Darger, a major figure of Outsider Art. This immersive work blends music and dreamlike imagery to bring viewers into Darger’s hallucinatory universe, following the story of the Vivian Girls and their journey through conflict and triumph.

The Dawn of Art – A Journey through the Chauvet Cave

Travel 36,000 years into the past with Daisy Ridley as your guide through the Chauvet Cave in southern France. This immersive experience brings viewers into one of humanity’s earliest artistic sites, offering a powerful look at how early humans used imagery to express belief, story, and connection.

About the Public Art Futures Lab: The Public Art Futures Lab is a space to exhibit, experiment, educate and experience the role of technology as it relates to public art.
