Wolf Creek Library : French VR Screenings from Night of Ideas

Step into immersive 360° storytelling with a selection of four virtual reality films from the Institut Français XR Catalogue, presented as part of Night of Ideas Atlanta 2026. These works bring together art, history, music, and animation, inviting audiences to explore new ways of experiencing narrative through sound, image, and interaction.

This program is offered as a drop-in VR screening experience, allowing participants to move through each work at their own pace.

(Please note: one film may be more appropriate for ages 15+)

Arts and Heritage | France | 12 min | 2025 | Interactive VR experience

A musical and interactive experience inspired by the work of American painter and writer Henry Darger, a major figure of Outsider Art. This immersive work blends music and dreamlike imagery to bring viewers into Darger’s hallucinatory universe, following the story of the Vivian Girls and their journey through conflict and triumph.

A timeless journey that begins in an ordinary apartment and transitions into a mythological passage guided by Charon, ferryman of the Underworld. Inspired by Arnold Böcklin’s 1883 painting and accompanied by Rachmaninov’s symphonic composition, this atmospheric experience explores themes of transition, memory, and the unknown.

Created from nearly 300 watercolor paintings, the work reflects on the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the natural world, offering a meditation on fragility, loss, and cycles of life.

Travel 36,000 years into the past with Daisy Ridley as your guide through the Chauvet Cave in southern France. This immersive experience brings viewers into one of humanity’s earliest artistic sites, offering a powerful look at how early humans used imagery to express belief, story, and connection.

This program extends the Night of Ideas Atlanta experience into Fulton County libraries, offering additional opportunities for residents to engage with these internationally recognized works. Through virtual reality, participants are invited to explore storytelling in new dimensions, connecting art, culture, and technology in an accessible and engaging format.
