About this Event
As schools shift to evidence-based instruction and curriculum, they want to bring their community on this journey but are often unclear about how best to do this.
Please join us for a very special WNY LIT event on October 1st as Lockport Reading Specialist Sarah Kozarowicz-Noah and Principal Patricia McMahon share their secrets to creating a successful literacy event for the Anna Merritt Elementary School Community.
This wonderful annual event is always well attended and receives praise from both parents and teachers but what are the key ingredients in planning a literacy event at your school?
Join Sarah and Principal McMahon as they discuss:
- The importance of goal setting - what are you trying to accomplish?
- Bringing teachers to the table (literacy having teachers table at the event!)
- Bringing a broad range of organizations into the mix from parent & dyslecia groups to adult literacy orgs to your local BOCES to your library and everything in between.
- How do you continue the conversation after the event?
- What do you need to make it fun for kids?
- How do you get people to show up?
- Who "owns" the event? What support do they need?
And so much more!
This event is parents, teachers, and school leaders. Please spread the word!
**If you're interestd in seeing the annual Lockport literacy event first-hand, you're welcome to attend their next one on November 21st at Anna Merritt Elementary School in Lockport.
