“Without Shade, Without Rest” Film Screening, Meal, and Panel Discussion

For Season of Creation 2026, St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville is screening the documentary, “Without Shade, Without Rest,” highlighting the hazards of farm and nursery workers, who labor in sweltering heat without heat/water/nutrition breaks, since OSHA still has no regulations about outdoor worker safety. Food trucks will serve meals, and a panel discussion will follow the 40-minute film describing the farmworker experience in Henderson County.
The film features a grassroots group of farmworkers in the 1990’s – now the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) who united to protect their fellow workers, after getting no heat safety accommodations from their employers.
