About this Event

Filmlab Palestine and GMFP present: WITH HASAN IN GAZA + Post-Screening Discussion

Three rediscovered MiniDV tapes from 2001. A road trip from the north to the south of Gaza. A testament to a place and time that has been irreversibly altered.

Join us at the Birch Community Centre for a profound cinematic reclamation of history. Directed by Kamal Aljafari, With Hasan in Gaza (2025 | 106 min) began as a search for a former Pr*son mate from 1989—a man lost to time and war. This search evolved into an unexpected journey alongside Hasan, a local guide whose current fate remains unknown.

As the camera navigates the streets and landscapes, it records fleeting moments of everyday life. Today, this forgotten footage is transformed into a cinematic reflection on memory, loss, and the relentless passage of time, capturing a Gaza of the past and lives that may never be found again.

Palestine Cinema Days Around the World This screening is part of the 4th edition of Palestine Cinema Days Around the World, held on the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. This initiative is far more than a film festival. It is a collective, global declaration:

'That Palestinian stories belong everywhere, that our culture will survive, and that even in the darkest moments, we will continue to create, gather, and speak.'
