After Peggy and I got in a bad car accident in early May (on our way to a crawfish boil during jazzfest 🤪🦞 ), things got real slow and serious very fast. She is still recovering from a major surgery and we are still pretty shook up months later so we’re certainly still panning for silver in all this grey. But we have seen so many silver linings in the people around us who’ve helped keep things steady for us in these shaky times. We’ve had so much support from friends in the music scene, friends outside of it, folks we haven’t seen in years & folks we barely knew before this. Everyone stepping in with real kindness is something we’ll never forget. The amount of love and support we’ve been shown these past couple months from our chosen family has really kept us going. We call that Family Silver. That chosen family has pulled together a fundraiser show to help us out, and it’s shaping up to be a hell of an evening. 1-8pm at Gasa Gasa Sunday August 17, seven hours of our homies playing music. The lineup we got for this is full of hits, grit, & the kind of shit that reminds you why we stay here. There will be vendors, food, art auctions, a lightshow by ClockPhase and MarbleTrapper and a Bakey Brew album sneak peek. I also hear rumors of mimosas.
Needless to say we’re so lucky to be part of such a tight-knit, talented, and generous to the bone community. If you’re part of the family, you already know what I mean. If you’re not, this is a good night to find out.
