Discover the Ancient Art of Viking Knit
Known historically as trichinopoly, Viking knit chain is an elegant chain-making technique that dates back centuries and is related to both tatting and circular plaiting. In this hands-on evening workshop, artist Laurel Gutenberg will guide you through creating your own intricate lengths of Viking knit chain — a timeless complement to hand-woven wire jewelry.
Students will also complete a wire-woven pendant project, learning:
- How to form a Viking knit chain
- Basic wire-weaving components and patterns
- Techniques for framing and setting a stone
- How to pair your chain and pendant into a finished jewelry piece
Materials & Supplies
Basic materials are included in tuition. You may also:
- Bring your own 3–4 cm round or oval cabochon, or
- Purchase a semi-precious gemstone cabochon from the instructor during class.
All necessary tools will be available for use in class.
All Skill Levels Welcome
