About this Event

Kathleen Patnode, from the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, is back for another dynamic FREE interactive gardening workshop. This one offers winterizing tips and tricks to support a vibrant pollinator community next spring!

Highlights include:

  • Addressing “Bloom Gaps” to create a continuous feast for pollinators spring through to fall,
  • Tidying up Dos and Dont’s to keep eggs and caterpillars safe over winter,
  • Seed Collection and Propagation techniques that will let you increase garden’s diversity by swapping seeds with friends, AND
  • An invitation to become part of the “Homegrown National Park” movement

About the Instructor:

Kathleen Patnode is an Ecologist who has spent more than 30 years working on preventing and reducing pollution's effects on aquatic and terrestrial wildlife. She has designed habitat for insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and the native plants that support them on over 1,000 acres of land - from private backyards to mountain ridges!

Kathleen continues to create and improve habitat on her own properties and enjoys sharing her methods with others.


About Wye Marsh:

Friends of Wye Marsh is a not-for-profit charitable organization taking care of 3,000 acres of provincially significant wetlands and federal forests in the Heart of Georgian Bay. This National Wildlife Area and recognized Important Bird Area (IBA) provides habitat for a number of significant species including provincially Threatened Least Bitterns, Species of Special Concern Black Terns, and the famous Trumpeter Swans

Wye Marsh is the perfect place to Escape - Explore - Experience the area's natural history as the site includes 25 km of all-season trails, a Birds of Prey field, and Visitors Centre!
