Winter walk along the Duke's River Walk from Kneller Gardens to Isleworth
About this Event
Today we shall be walking along the Duke of Northumberland River from where it branches from the River Crane to where it flows into the River Thames at Isleworth. This will be a brisk winter walk taking in the local sights such as the old brewery site, parks, looking for wildlife along the river banks and discussing the history of the man-made river. A lovely meandering interesting walk.
The linear walk will start on the Kingfisher Bridge between Kneller Gardens and Mereway Nature Park at the end of Mereway Road ( The What3Words location is apron.pound.crunch ), Twickenham and will be led by FORCE Trustees who will point out old industrial workings along the riverbanks, ecology and sights of particular interest. There is an option to finish off at one of the local pubs and have your lunch overlooking the Thames. There are a couple of places to leave the walk en route where local bus services are available.
As we shall be walking over varied terrain and some of the ground may be muddy, please wear appropriate attire and footwear. Due to safeguarding needs all children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Unfortunately dogs aren't invited on this walk. We are a very sociable group and look forward to meeting you.
