Join Wild Birds Unlimited Barrie and Wild Birds Unlimited Newmarket to discover the art of winter sowing native plant seeds! 🌼 Many native plants can thrive by mimicking the natural conditions of temperature and moisture they encounter in the wild. Winter sowing is one of the simplest and most cost-effective methods to cultivate your own native plants and enhance wildlife habitats in your yard. The workshop will kick off with an introduction to winter sowing, followed by the chance for each participant to plant their own trays. You will be working with a 72-cell tray, allowing you to grow 72 plants for your garden! All necessary materials will be provided, including the tray, protective dome, soil, and seeds.
📅 Date, Time and Location (Roughly 1.5- 2 Hours in Duration):
• Monday January 13, 2025 at 6:30 pm at WBU Newmarket (16655 Yonge Street, Unit 2, Newmarket, ON)
• Tuesday January 14, 2025 at 6:30 pm at WBU Barrie (515 Bryne Drive, Unit B, Barrie, ON)
🌱 Cost: $45.00 + HST per person (each person participating is required to complete their own registration form)
❄️ Inclement Weather Alternate Date - In the event of extreme or unsafe weather we may have to offer the events on an alternate date as outlined below:
• WBU Newmarket Alternative Date: Wednesday January 15, 2025
• WBU Barrie Alternative Date: Thursday January 16, 2025.

Can Two or More People Make One Kit Together?
We understand for some gardeners growing 72 plants may be more than what you need. You are welcome to plant and grow seeds to share with someone else; however only one of you may attend the event. We have limited space and can only accommodate one person per kit during the event.
If I Can't Attend the Event in Person Can You Make a Kit Up for Me to Complete at Home?
We encourage everyone to attend the event in person, as we want to pass along some great content and learning. We have a limited number of kits available and priority will be for participants who can attend in person. However, if you would like a kit but are unsure if you can attend in person, please reach out to the store directly to make arrangements- we may be able to make a kit up for you to complete at home with instructions.
