WINTER SOLSTICE CEREMONY, CONNECTION, ECSTATIC DANCE & CELEBRATION!

On the longest night of the year we are gathering together in ceremony and celebration.

"We have been holding ourselves so extraordinarily in this world full of unknown, turbulence and agitation. Now is the time to honour ourselves for the incredible way we have been turning up to navigate the challenges, to accept all we are and all we feel, to be in our centre, to goto the edge and transform our holding into delight, with the warmth and love of rose chai cocoa, witnessing and support from our tribe, we invite you to realese yourself in the dance into the dark veil of winter, and set the course for the year ahead, expand into delight." We open with a Rose Chai Cacao Ceremony guided by Marc Jb, followed by some gently playful connective games with Jonnie, an Ecstatic Dance Party with Marc JB and closing with a beautiful sound journey with Katariina! Hosted by ECSTATIC DANCE BRIGHTON!

MARC JB

Ecstatic Dance Brighton has the delight to have facilitator, DJ and music producer Marc JB guide us on a journey into delight.

As a music producer, Marc has 90 no.1s in the Uk and US charts as a remixer and artist, also Latin Grammy winning and Grammy nominated. As a DJ he has travelled the world, headlined Glastonbury Festival and been a pioneer of Ecstatic Dance and conscious community for 8 years.
He will be playing some of his beautiful tunes weaving indigenous wisdom lineages with western beats, many of which are signed to DJ Mose’s label Resueño.
As a mystic Marc loves the ‘Rose Path’ and stands for authentic expression of creativity, integrity and honouring the depths of life to become calm, centred and capable, and have a true sense of happiness that transcends all.
The dance will be a ‘Journey to Delight’, dropping into body awareness, dancing though our whole landscape of feelings, honouring our sadness and grief, and moving though to embody an integrated presence of being calm, centred and happy.

JONNIE

Jonnie Shemoon has a bow of many strings, frolicking in the fields of stand up, improv, and clown. He has performed in primarily London and Paris, and held clown workshops in Czech republic, to rapturously applause (mainly from himself). He's a danceaholic, fun filled individual with a sensitivity to a groups ecology, allowing him to adapt and improvise to always extract and pronounce the joy habitually present in every moment. You may have seen him on a Sainsbury's banking advert 11 years ago, but probably not.

Jonnie Shemoon will be hosting some dandy family friendly laid back fun for all to enjoy, some post dance play time games to revel in and connect with both your inner child and outer world, as well as connect with the beautiful people around us, as is so very much the spirit of the festive season. All are welcome into a pure space of creative embodied joyful expression, with no expectation, and no right or wrong. In the immortal words of SpongeBob square pants; 'If you're having fun you've already won' 😊

KATARIINA

Katariina Vaura is a talented Singer-Songwriter alumna of the Academy of Contemporary Music and a Sound Healer. With an exquisite blend of artistry and healing, she weaves together captivating sound baths that transcend the boundaries of musical experience and healing.
She creates unique sound journeys through the diverse array of acoustic instruments including crystal singing bowls, kalimbas, tongue drums, chimes, shakers and also using modern technology in the form of a looping machine and self-produced digital soundscapes. Weaving in her mesmerising angelic voice into the sound baths and sharing her original songs which in their lyrical content explore the themes of self-discovery, our deeper connection to the universe and act as powerful healing messages to the listener to embrace.
She is passionate about harnessing the power of sound as a healing and self-discovery modality and believes exploring our singing voice can bring us closer to our authentic selves. She is a dedicated advocate of growth and transformation through personal development, somatic practices, dance, and the cultivation of deep, meaningful connections.
