About this Event
Untergeschoss der Pandora, nestled in the heart of Kreuzberg, Berlin, has long been a sanctuary for the avant-garde, championing art that is unapologetically dark yet intellectually stimulating. Our forthcoming exhibition, "Winter Selection by Pandora," epitomizes this ethos, uniting a cadre of artists whose works delve into the intricate interplay between reality and illusion, emotion and rationality, decay and beauty.
Sofiia Yesakova (@sofiia.yesakova)
A participant in the Berlin postgraduate program Goldrausch Künstlerinnen and a member of Frontviews at HAUNT Berlin, Yesakova's oeuvre interrogates the escalating influence of information in modulating human behavior. Employing diagrams and engineering-like schematics, she crafts narratives that are bureaucratically consistent, yet imbued with profound theoretical underpinnings. Her installations, often inspired by Renaissance symbolism juxtaposed with constructivist forms, challenge the demarcation between the emotional and the rational, inviting viewers into a ciphered visual storytelling realm.
PEREDROM (@peredrom_art)
A polymath in the realms of visual arts and experimental electronic music, PEREDROM's debut album, "Negative Plasticity" (2023), traverses genres from dark ambient to noise, crafting auditory experiences that oscillate between melancholic and aggressive tones. His visual artworks, currently showcased in a solo exhibition at the Osthaus Museum, resonate with the same experimental fervor, blurring the boundaries between auditory and visual stimuli.
Maurice Fey (@mauricefey)
A student at the Kunstakademie für bildende Künste in Münster, Fey's creations are a testament to the tension between decay and beauty. Drawing from personal narratives, particularly his experiences as a triplet, he encapsulates childhood memories into abstract visual realms. His works, spanning painting, etching, drawing, and object art, oscillate between the familiar and the uncanny, exuding a playful irony that lays bare the dichotomy of disgust and fascination.
Hans Zeeldieb (@hanszeeldieb)
A master of analogue photography, Zeeldieb's journey from Parisian street portraitist to documentarian of maritime voyages is captured through the lens of a late 19th-century camera. His project "Crossings," documenting ferry journeys between Marseille and the Maghreb, underscores his commitment to authentic, unembellished storytelling, preserving the raw essence of his subjects.
Guinchi (@guinchi_skulpts)
An artist whose practice delves into human resilience and emotion, Guinchi amalgamates raw materials like iron and stone with industrial elements. Through meticulous techniques, he forges works that are both striking and balanced, reflecting the inherent strength and vulnerability of the human condition.
Alisa Kravcenko (@bodyasatool)
A Berlin-based dancer and choreographer, Kravcenko's performances are a confluence of expression and experimentation. Rooted in contemporary dance, her collaborative projects explore themes of identity, vulnerability, and transformation, solidifying her as a pivotal voice in Berlin's performance art scene.
"Winter Selection by Pandora" invites you to traverse these diverse artistic landscapes, each piece a testament to the unyielding spirit of underground art. Join us for the opening night on 8 February 2025, with the exhibition running until 22 February 2025, at Untergeschoss der Pandora, Mittenwalder Str. 6, 10961 Berlin, Kreuzberg.
