Let’s greet this Winter Season with hors’ d’oeuvres in the afternoon! Come join us in Shalom’s cozy dining room for scrumptious heavy hors’ d’oeuvres, drinks, and sharing by our featured speaker, Whitney Sanger, founder of Project Rooted.
Whitney’s “Her Story” presentation, "Rooted in Resilience: How Life’s Challenges Grew a Mission to Nourish a Community," will share the details of her raw, heartfelt journey. Life's challenges, heartbreaks, and unexpected moments of clarity led her to a place of purpose, healing, and giving back. It was in those quiet, messy, beautiful in-between spaces that Project Rooted was born. Not from perfection, but from a deep desire to help kids feel seen, supported, and nourished in ways she once needed herself.
In this presentation, you’ll discover why food matters far beyond the plate. Whitney will invite you into the heart of her mission: creating connection through local foods, nurturing a sense of belonging, and planting seeds of hope in classrooms, homes, and neighborhoods. She’ll share the “why” behind the work, the stories that keep her going, and the dreams she holds for generations to come. You’ll also learn how simple, real food can open up conversations, build community, and help children grow not just physically, but emotionally — reminding all of us that nourishment is more than nutrition; it’s care, dignity, and possibility.
Come ready to listen, connect, and maybe even see your own story a little differently.
$15 per person; please register online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by Tuesday, January 6.
