About this Event
Founded in 1881 by Anton Jermann. With Silvo Jermann at the helm, who revolutionized the winery in the early 1970s. Jermann is recognized as one of the top Italian white wine producers in Italy and is considered a benchmark for Pinot Grigio.
Join Alojz Felix Jermann, as he leads us through the hills and vineyards of Friuli Italy to taste an assortment of incredible wines.
Alojz is a fifth generation of the Jermann family, who was raised in the hills and vineyards of Friuli. He says his connection to Italian wine culture has been so extensive and natural, it’s woven deep in his character.
“My family immersed me in the Italian countryside where nature and vineyards were an intrinsic part of my life. I feel a very strong bond to my family’s land, and I understand all that it takes to produce quality grapes.”
He earned a degree in International Business at the University of San Francisco. In addition, he has also studied in Austria and lived and worked in Australia. “Living in different countries helped me understand the dynamic nature of different cultures.”
In 2013 Jermann received the Casa Clima Wine Certification of environmental sustainability as the 3rd winery in Italy, and in order to reduce their footprint on the ecosystem, the energy they cannot produce with their own systems like geothermic pump and solar panels is supplied by a partner which produces energy from renewable sources.
Tasting notes to expect:
Jermann Vinnae Ribolla Gialla: It has a bright, pale straw shade and fruit aromas with a mineral undertone. On the palate it is dry, fresh and tangy with the unassuming elegance of an authentic country wine.
Jermann Pinot Grigio: Pinot Grigio from Pinot Grigio grapes, fermented as a white wine. It has an intense straw-yellow colour; its aroma is intense, full and fruity, with excellent persistence. Its taste is dry, velvety, fragrant, and persistent.
Blau & Blau: Rather intense ruby red color; vinous, well-balanced nose, with herbaceous notes and nuances of berry fruit and underbrush. Dry on the palate, elegant, medium to full body, well balanced.
Red Angel in the Moonlight Pinot Nero: It has a fine ruby red colour. Its aroma is heady, well-orchestrated, and slightly herbaceous. The Pinot Nero variety stands out with elegant finesse. Its taste is delicate, elegant, and full-bodied, and it is slightly sweet and balanced.
Vintage Tunina: Is a bright straw-colored with golden reflections. The nose is intense, wide, very elegant and persistent with scents of honey and country flowers. To the palate it is dry, soft, well balanced with an extraordinary persistence due to its full body.
