About this Event
Wine tasting walking tour - Approximately 2.5 hours - Selection of local wines, nzmber of bottles depends on group size - Local cheese with delicious bread
Montpellier is France’s fastest growing conurbation, and the largest town on a coastline with Greek, Roman, Iberian, Moorish, Phocéan and Phonecian history. It’s in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains with Languedoc to the South West and to the North East is the sandy Camargue Delta, famous for wild bulls and horses, and the production of salt and rice.
There is an astonishing variety of sights to see: giant neo-classical boulevards, twisting medieval ruelles, a towering Gothic cathedral, the world’s oldest medical university, a Romanesque aquaduct, the garrigue in the distance, cutting-edge modern architecture, the city’s fabled fountains, bustling farmers’ markets, the beautiful Lez river winding its way to the sea and much more.
The wines are just as varied, specialising in zingy coastal whites, spicy reds, juicy fortified wines and rosés of every hue.
I am a WSET level 3 wine professional and I will guide you on a unique walking apéritif tour of the main sights and hidden gems in this wonderful city near which I have lived on-and-off for 20 years. You’ll taste a wide selection of different bottles (5 or 6 depending on the number of participants) showcasing the innovation of the Languedoc and Camargue wineries, and each one brimming with fun stories and anecdotes.
