The Wind Ensemble will take place November 21, 2024 at the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium at Lander University. The event will begin at 7:00 PM.
The concert is devoted to different styles of dance music. Featured selections from the previously cancelled Wind Ensemble include “Danse Macabre,” “Ballet Parisian” and “Suite of Old American Dances.” New selections include, "Soirées Musicales", "Italian Holiday Selections", and more!
This year, the ensemble welcomes many new students, both as music majors and non-major ensemble participants, who join many returning members.
The Lander University Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Reed Gallo, director of bands and chair of the Department of Music at Lander. Gallo, a professor of trumpet, studied with Ron Romm, a founding member of the Canadian Brass, and many top orchestra performers. Throughout his distinguished career, Gallo has performed on solo tours in Europe, including the Kmoch Festival in Prague, and Southeast Asia. Gallo’s former students are award winning educators, successful performing artists and military band members.
