This full-day masterclass tackles that risk head-on, from the moment instructions are taken through to a valid, defensible Will.

We'll start with the taking of proper Will instructions, working page-by-page through a precedent instruction sheet, alongside key Succession Act provisions on advancement, debt on property, appropriation, and pre-deceased issue. From there, we turn to what the Probate Office actually looks for in a valid Will — attestation, capacity, whether it's truly the last Will, and whether the right person is making the application.

By the end of the day, you'll walk away knowing how to:

• Take instructions that hold up — and spot the gaps before they become problems
• Draft Wills that meet what the Probate Office is really checking for
• Handle typical and complex clauses with confidence, from charitable legacies to simple trusts

The day closes with a hands-on Will drafting exercise in groups, including a foreign element and a charitable bequest, with a model Will provided to take home.
