Learn willow weaving, come along and make twisting eels and fun fish using traditional techniques. These will decorate a large walk-in Eel Trap (called a ‘hive’) which will be built by the River Welland.
Throughout November we will be inviting volunteers to learn to build decorative frames for the views along Spalding town’s precious and historical River Welland. The trail will finish with a huge Eel Trap using locally grown Living Willow.
You will learn all the techniques for planting, weaving and looking after Living Willow Structures.
The sessions are free, open to all and drop in. No need to book, come find us at Vista Hall for this session led by the brilliant, Lincolnshire-based Alison Walling.

These workshops are a part of the conclusion of Transported's involvement in the Spalding Reconnected: Historic Town and Riverside project, which you can find more about here.
The project emerged from the Spalding Town Centre Improvement Programme, and has been developed in partnership between South Holland District Council, Heritage Lincolnshire, Transported Arts, East Mercia Rivers Trust and Lincolnshire County Council, and is called Spalding Reconnected: Historic Town & Riverside. It seeks to create and promote several townscape and riverside improvements, together with future funding opportunities all based on Spalding’s heritage.
