About this Event
Step into a courtroom where certainty is slippery, evidence refuses to behave, and your own judgement is the thing on trial.
In this public edition of Battle of the Barristers, you will be thrown into one of the most unsettling real cases in British legal history: the conviction of William Wallace. A man is accused. The facts appear straightforward. But is that really the case when you look more closely?
This is not a lecture and it's not a performance that you sit back and watch. You become part of the prosecution or defence team, asked to interrogate evidence, weigh witness statements, challenge assumptions and persuade a judge that your version of events stands up to scrutiny. You will feel how quickly confidence forms, how easily doubt creeps in, and how uncomfortable it can be when logic collides with instinct.
Running as part of Doncaster Remake’s Learning for Life week, this session is designed for people who are curious about how decisions are really made under pressure. You will leave with sharper critical thinking, a deeper awareness of bias, and a new appreciation of how stories are constructed, defended and sometimes dismantled.
If you enjoy true crime but want more than passive consumption, or if you like experiences that challenge how you think rather than tell you what to think, this courtroom is waiting for you. Come prepared to argue and to question.
Suitable for anyone over 16 years of age. Booking is essential as places are limited.
