The Rustic Mechanicals, West Virginia’s Shakespeare troupe, will make their long-awaited debut in Bluefield this summer. On Friday, June 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the troupe will take the stage at the historic Granada Theater for a one-night-only performance of William Shakespeare’s raucous comedy, The Taming of the Shrew.This performance marks a significant milestone for both the ensemble and the venue. While the Mechanicals have spent over a decade touring the Appalachian region, this is the first time the troupe has performed in Bluefield and their first appearance at the beautifully restored Granada Theater.
The 2026 Howl at the Moon Tour features a high-energy production of The Taming of the Shrew. Far more than a simple "battle of the sexes," this version explores the absolute necessity of "play" and the psychological liberation found in the magnificent mysteries of marriage.
