Join us for a short, 2-mile hike along the Riverside Trail near Lake Alice in William O'Brien State Park, followed by socializing at Nita Mae's Scoop in Marine On St. Croix!William O'Brien State Park is located at 16821 O'Brien Trail North, Marine on St. Croix, MN 55047 but we will meet at the parking lot near Lake Alice, which is closest to our trail. To get to this spot: Enter the park from MN-95 (St. Croix Trail). Once inside the park, DO NOT follow signs to the Visitor Center. Instead, take the side road that goes under MN-95. This leads to the general parking area directly adjacent to Lake Alice.
We'll start the walk at 10:15 a.m. and will be maintaining a slow, steady pace for approximately 2 miles. This is a smooth, paved path. Following our walk, if anyone is interested, there's a lovely little ice cream shop called Nita Mae's Scoop in Marine on St. Croix we can gather to socialize! It's located at 101 Judd Street, Marine on St. Croix, MN 55047.
Some things to know:
*There IS a state park entry fee for William O'Brien State Park. You can, however, "check out" an entry from your local library to bypass this! Learn more here: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/minnesota-state-parks-library-program.html
*Please do not leave anything in your car and lock your doors while we're on our walk.
*Plan on meeting at the parking lot - look for the lilac handkerchief tied to my walking stick so we can gather in a group.
*Dress appropriately for the weather and your comfort.
*Pets are welcome if allowed at the location, as long as they remain on a leash or in a stroller. The pet owner is responsible for poop clean-up and disposal. Please ask before allowing your pet to greet others - some folks might not be comfortable with new pets.
