Three Bells Books is excited and proud to announce that we are bringing a big-time author to town on Monday, May 4! Please join us in welcoming the best-selling award-winning mystery and historical fiction writer William Kent Krueger. Because Krueger is so popular, and the bookstore so tiny, we'll be hosting this event at our neighbors, Fat Hill Brewing (17 N. Federal Ave). This event is free but the bookstore and/or the brewery would appreciate you making a purchase so we support Kent and we can keep events like this happening for Mason City. Invite your book club and make a night out of it! Here's the schedule:
4 pm - Doors open, book sales begin
5:30 pm - Author talk with Kent
6: pm ish - Q&A with crowd
6:30 pm ish - Book signing and meet-and-greet
Three Bells Books will have a big booth at the event selling his books so you can plan to pick one up at Fat Hill that evening or stop into the bookstore ahead of time. You can also use the website to pre-order if you'd like. Already have him on your keeper shelf? Bring your favorite for him to sign.
About the venue:
Fat Hill Brewing is a community-focused, book-obsessed brewery and taproom in the heart of downtown Mason City. They serve beer, wine, cider, and a variety of non alcoholic beverages including Coke products, 1919 Root Beer, Spring Hill soda, NA beer, and more.
About the author:
Krueger writes a mystery series set in the north woods of Minnesota. His protagonist is Cork O’Connor, the former sheriff of Tamarack County and a man of mixed heritage—part Irish and part Ojibwe. His work has received a number of awards, including the Minnesota Book Award, the Loft-McKnight Fiction Award, the Anthony Award, the Barry Award, the Dilys Award, and the Friends of American Writers Prize. His last thirteen novels were all New York Times bestsellers.
Ordinary Grace, his stand-alone novel published in 2013, received the Edgar Award, given by the Mystery Writers of America in recognition for the best novel published in that year. The companion novel, This Tender Land, was published in September 2019 and spent nearly six months on the New York Times bestseller list. His most recent stand-alone, The River We Remember, published in 2023, was featured on many best-of-the-year lists, as well as receiving an Edgar Award nomination for Best Novel.
