About this Event

In Radically Reframing Climate Change: A Guide to Saving Ourselves, Will Hackman takes his own Millennial anger about the ticking time bomb of fossil fuel emissions and transforms it into passion and action at the personal, community, and government levels. And he encourages readers to do the same.

The book reframes the climate crisis as a humanity crisis, arguing that we must change how we think and talk about climate change, both in our conversations with non-believers and among those who care. He identifies three main obstacles to solving climate change: polarization, paralysis, and stale, ineffective messaging.

Join us on the patio at the Ivy Bookshop, surrounded by the beautiful gardens, to dream big-- and talk practically-- with Will Hackman and Kenneth Rogers Jr. about this path forward.

Will Hackman has more than fifteen years’ experience working in US political campaigns, public policy process, strategic communications, coalition building, climate activism, and global environmental conservation advocacy. Will is a frequent climate voice online and in the media and has been interviewed on several climate change-related podcasts. His 2022 TEDx “The Future of Climate Change is Personal,” challenges us to reframe our climate conversations to overcome polarization and partisanship. His writing has appeared in The Hill, Washington Post, Anchorage Daily News, Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, Georgetown Public Policy Review, and other outlets. Will lives in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley with his wife Paula.

Kenneth Rogers Jr. is the author of the How to Heal Your Inner Superhero series that uses DC and Marvel comic superhero and villain archetypes, cognitive behavior therapy, psychology, and his own autobiographical journey to help other survivors heal. Each guide in the spotlights a different path toward healing for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
