Adopting Privilege: A Book Talk & Community Conversation
About this Event
Join Dr. Abby Hasberry, author of Adopting Privilege, for an intimate evening of conversation and community at Vinyl & Pages in Baltimore.
The conversation will be moderated by John Marvin Brown, newsest member of the Softones and the son of the late Marvin Brown, lead singer of the Softones, legendary Baltimore R&B group known for “Hey There Lonely Girl".
Dr. Hasberry is an adoptee and birth mother who reunited with her son and her biological family as an adult. As a teenager, she played “Hey There Lonely Girl” on repeat when she was hurting, not knowing the lead singer was her biological cousin. Join us as Abby and John share a stage for the first time.
Adopting Privilege explores how race, class, and power shape the adoption experience. It is a book about identity development and healing.
Books will be available for purchase. Space is limited.
