Will Davis: A New Era for UH Baseball

Join us for our October meeting and hear from the new leader of Houston Baseball and get an inside look at the future of Cougar baseball. This will be an exciting luncheon with Will Davis, the ninth head coach in Houston Baseball history, as he begins a new era for the Cougars.

Coach Will Davis was named head coach of Houston Baseball in May 2026 and brings an impressive record of leadership, player development, recruiting, and championship success to H-Town. The 2027 season will mark his first leading the Cougars. Davis joined Houston following 10 successful seasons as head coach at Lamar, where he amassed 289 wins, developed numerous All-Conference players, and helped prepare 10 MLB Draft picks for the next level. Most recently, Davis led Lamar to the 2026 Southland Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance, extending the program's streak to five consecutive 30-win seasons.

During his tenure at Lamar, Davis guided the Cardinals to multiple conference championships, back-to-back 40-win seasons, and some of the program's most successful campaigns in recent history. In 2024, he was named Southland Conference Coach of the Year after leading Lamar to a 44-15 record and the Southland Conference regular-season championship. Before becoming a head coach, Davis spent seven seasons on the coaching staff at LSU, where he helped the Tigers capture the 2009 College World Series Championship, win seven SEC championships, and make four trips to Omaha. During his time at LSU, 48 players were selected in the MLB Draft, including six first-round picks.

A former LSU player himself, Davis was a member of the Tigers' 2004 College World Series team and has been part of four College World Series appearances throughout his playing and coaching career. With a proven track record of building winning programs, developing elite talent, and recruiting at the highest level, Davis is ready to usher in an exciting new chapter for Houston Baseball.
