Mayor George C. Brown invites residents and visitors to celebrate Wilkes-Barre City’s 46th St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 15th at the intersection of South and South Main Streets. Participants will line up for the parade at 1:00 PM in their designated areas. This year’s parade will include over 65 groups, including local leaders, non-profit organizations, businesses, youth groups, pageant title holders, and local emergency response units. This year, five giant balloons will return to the parade, requiring over 76 handlers. The parade lineup, road closures, and parking restrictions will be announced early next week.Parade Route:
•Begins on South Main Street at South Street
•Travels along South Main Street.
•Around Public Square towards East Market Street
•Ends at the intersection of North Main and Union Streets
For the safety of everyone enjoying the parade, please stay behind all marked lines and barricades along the parade route. Participants in the parade are prohibited from throwing candy and/or promotional material during the parade, for safety reasons. This restriction will be strictly enforced for all participants before the parade steps off.
DIAMOND CITY SHAMROCK 5K
The morning of the parade, the City will host the inaugural Diamond City Shamrock 5K Run/Walk.
The 5K will benefit colon/colorectal cancer patients, in partnership with The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA. Check in will begin at 9:45 AM on Public Square and the race will begin at 11 AM, in front of the parade reviewing stand on Public Square. The route will continue to West Market St., to South Franklin St. to South St. to West River St. to Riverside Dr. to Locust St. to West Academy St. to Academy St. to West River St. to West Ross St. to South Main St. to Public Square and back to the reviewing stand. GRAND MARSHAL
Mayor George C. Brown has selected retired Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department Assistant Chief William Murtha as the Grand Marshal of the City’s 46th St. Patrick’s Day Parade. ENTERTAINMENT
Live entertainment for the 2026 parade includes: Wyoming Valley Pipe & Drum Band, Greater Scranton Black Diamonds Pipe Band, Ceol Mor Pipe & Drum, Syracuse Scottish Pipe Band, Penn York Highlanders Ladies from Hell Pipe & Drum Band, Polka Bandski, David Blight School of Dance, Rhythmic Republic Dance Studio, and Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack Marching Band.
